What do I already have?

Use this quick map after reading the current GMC ENT guidance. Mark only the position of your evidence—do not enter patient details or upload documents. Your status choices stay on this page; only the priority you choose is passed to the action plan.

Your next review

Mark the areas above to see which gaps or older evidence to review first.

These are planning headings, not a complete evidence checklist or GMC assessment. An item marked “evidence found” has not been checked for suitability. Use the current GMC specialty-specific guidance before collecting or submitting material.

01 · ENT

Map the five capabilities

The GMC ENT guidance describes five surgical Capabilities in Practice (CiPs). Use these prompts to plan evidence, then check the full guidance for requirements, examples and currency.

1

Outpatient clinic

Show current assessment, decisions, communication and follow-up across general and specialist ENT clinics.

2

Unselected emergency take

Show how you assess, prioritise and manage acute ENT presentations, including escalation and handover.

3

Ward and inpatient care

Show ongoing management, multidisciplinary working, complications and discharge decisions.

4

Operating list

Show operative judgement, consent, technical practice, supervision and management of complications.

5

Multidisciplinary working

Show how you contribute to complex decisions and coordinate care across teams.

This is a planning aid, not an assessment of whether evidence will be accepted. The official ENT guidance also covers knowledge, skills, CPD, research, education, quality improvement, leadership and supporting documents.

02 · SOURCE OF TRUTH

Work from the current GMC guidance

The GMC says to use the version on its website rather than relying on an old saved copy. Check it again before submitting, especially for evidence currency and referee requirements.

03 · PRACTICAL START

Take one useful next step

  1. Read the ENT guidance in full and confirm the applicable curriculum.
  2. List the evidence you already hold against each capability and the other guidance sections.
  3. Mark missing or old evidence, then agree realistic opportunities to address gaps in your current role.
  4. Ask the GMC or JCST about points you cannot resolve from their guidance before submitting.
